Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) Regulations
The CBCS is followed in the college from the academic year 2005–2006. The objective of the choice based credit system is to promote student centered curriculum and need based teaching of learning and provide opportunity to students to earn more credits according to their capability and aptitude level.
- Each semester consists of 90 working days with fifteen 6-day weeks of actual teaching.
- One credit = 1 lecture or 2 hours of practical field training per week.
- Each course is divided with 5–6 units.
- Each course will have a course teacher, two teachers may collaborate if required.
- Each department will have a staff advisor to guide students in CBCS registration and course selection.
- The medium of instruction is English except Part I Tamil and Part IV MBE (Malayalam/Tamil).
- Credit requirements: UG – 140, PG – 90.
- Provision for improvement is available.
Evaluation Pattern
The complete academic performance of a student is evaluated by Internal and External assessment.

- Model practical examination is conducted for each practical.
- Observation notebook & regularity in class are considered.

- UG: 40% (Internal + External combined)
- PG: 50% (Internal + External combined)
Part IV Courses – NCC / NSS / Sports / YRC
Each UG student must enroll in one of the extension activities. Completion is compulsory for degree award.Maximum marks: 50 (CIA only).
- Attendance & Regularity – 10 marks
- Active Participation – 30 marks
- Special Contribution – 5 marks
- Social service (blood donation, fine arts etc.) – 5- marks
- Total – 50 marks

Examination Rules & Regulations
- Minimum 75% attendance required.
- 65–74% allowed with condonation fee (or compensation in next semester).
- <55% – student must rejoin the semester.
- Supplementary tests are allowed for genuine reasons.
- Improvement is permitted (except final semester).
- Re-totalling and revaluation permitted up to V semester (UG) and III semester (PG).
