Department of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry was established with Pre-University course in 1964. The Undergraduate Programme in Chemistry was introduced in 1968, PG programme in 1979 and M.Phil in 1987. The department has become full-fledged research department with the introduction of PhD Programme in 1999. Since then it has been serving the student Community with quality education. It has already completed five decades of useful service to the society in the field of Chemistry Education.

Providing the instrumentation facility to the Scholars of the neighborhood institutions.
Already 21 Scholars were awarded with PhD Degree and 75 with MPhil. Degree.
The Department has produced a number of industrialists and chemists holding key positions in various reputed industries across the country and abroad.
Our department alumni contribute liberally for the infrastructural improvement of the institution especially for the construction of new buildings.

To instill research culture among the chemistry students, project work is introduced even in the under graduate level
Introduction of self study course, the fundamentals of practical chemistry and online examination for the same course in the UG programme.
Introduction of application oriented practical in the UG programme
Use of ICT Enabled Teaching learning methods such as Power point presentations, video lessons and demonstration of experiments.
Signing MOUs with research institutions to facilitate research.
